SLR has an opportunity for a staff level Environmental Engineer/Scientist in our Edmonton, AB office. The role will predominantly consist of implementation of data collection programs (field work) including soil, groundwater, surface water and soil vapour sampling to be used for site assessment and remediation.
Other duties include preparation of health and safety plans, coordination of field programs, preparation of environmental summary reports for work conducted, environmental monitoring of construction projects, and working on landfill groundwater monitoring programs.
Participation in a team environment, working closely with Project Managers, and co-workers to complete work programs. Collection of site background information, participation in field data collection programs, and preparation of reports. Perform field work safely and as directed, including soil sampling, groundwater sampling and monitoring, soil vapour sampling, and site reconnaissance
Technical Skills / Abilities / Experience:
0-2 years of experience in contaminated site assessment, including Phase I and Phase II ESA programs (e.g., drilling, test pitting, groundwater sampling, etc.) Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential with demonstrated skill in technical report writing. Knowledge and practical application of health & safety requirements unique to subsurface investigations and contaminated sites. Willingness and ability to travel and conduct fieldwork. Ability to work alone in remote locations and adapt to conditions/resources.
Education / Qualifications / Memberships:
Degree in environmental engineering (e.g., environmental, geological, civil), science, hydrogeology or geology. Professional status or eligibility for professional status with a professional organization (i.e. APEGA, ASET, AIA).
Demonstrated team player with excellent interpersonal skills Strong attention to detail and accuracy Valid driver’s license
