Here is your opportunity to use your excellent investigative and interpersonal skills to assist in protecting the estates of vulnerable Albertans. The Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee invites you to submit your resume for this challenging and rewarding position.
The successful candidate will conduct initial investigations on the estates of represented adults, deceased persons and minors, including estates involving land, business interests or farms. This involves providing high-quality service to support the effective and efficient management of assets and administration of estates, often while dealing with complex and sensitive issues. As one of the first contact people representing the Public Guardian and Trustee’s Office, you will conduct hazard assessments, site investigations, and complete estate inventories, ensuring that the duties are carried out in compliance with applicable statutes, regulations, policies and procedures. Superior communication skills will be required to deal tactfully and courteously with a variety of stakeholders, including our staff, family members, tenants, bank officials, police authorities, hazardous goods specialists, and other persons associated with client assets. Professional judgment will also be required to make independent decisions within defined parameters and directions on behalf of clients
A related 2 year diploma and a minimum of 3 years of related experience in conducting investigations and/or asset protection are required. Experience with evidence-handling, client-centered service delivery, and multi-disciplinary teamwork are assets. Knowledge of the Adult Guardianship and Trusteeship Act, the Public Trustee Act, related legislation, and the work done by the Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee are also assets. This is a busy, fast-paced position that requires a team player with excellent interpersonal and time management skills.
Eligibility for Firearms Acquisition Certificate for the purpose of handling estate property and a First Aid Certificate are required. A valid Driver’s license is required.
Equivalencies will be considered.
$2,042.12 to $2,656.53 bi-weekly
– Must be able to travel out of town, conduct overnight road trips and work overtime dependent on site conditions and requirements.
– Final candidates for this position will be required to undergo pre-employment checks, including a security screening.
– This competition may be used to fill future temporary, permanent or wage vacancies across the Government of Alberta.
