Part-Time Youth Worker Location: Eleanor’s House- Calgary

Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary is a leading provider of quality programs to children and youth, with a $20 million dollar operating budget, that supports the healthy physical, educational and social development for 20,000 young people and their families each year.
Eleanor’s House is a Voluntary Residential Transitional Community-Based program located in Calgary that provides shelter and support to young people who are at-risk of or involved in sexual exploitation. The program serves males and females between the ages of 13 and 17 who are at-risk of or who are currently involved in sexual exploitation. Referrals are made through Calgary Region Child and Family Services.
As a Youth Worker with Eleanor’s House, a typical day might include:
The primary goal is youth safety with a strong focus on family reunification whenever possible and improving the outcomes for youth and their families.
Create and maintain a positive, supportive, strength based and rewarding work environment.
Work effectively with other members of the team to meet the individual needs of the youth in the program.
Work in collaboration with the youth’s team which includes Calgary Child and Family Services, PSECA, VICE/CPS, designated family and supports as well other community professionals.
Case management responsibilities include ensuring that the youth’s basic needs have been met with a focus on fostering personal growth and development. This includes arranging all necessary medical and professional appointments including case conferences.
Recognize the importance of family and other youth identified supports and ensures the inclusion of these supports in the youth’s individual plan and agreed upon outcomes.
Encourage and assist youth to further develop life and living skills associated with self sufficiency and successful community living.
Assist the youth in exploring and registering for arts and recreational programming or other identified supports within their community. Supports can include individual/ group counseling, in home support, drug and alcohol programming, anger management and life skills. We Have:

A degree or diploma in Human Services field (Child & Youth Care, Social Work, Justice Studies, etc) or currently enrolled, or have experience working with at-risk youth
A minimum of 2 years of direct experience working with at-risk youth
Current Standard First Aid/CPR certification
Class 5 driver’s licence with acceptable driver’s abstract
Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector search and Child Welfare Intervention Check
