The York Region District School Board delivers employment services to the community through funding from the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities’ Employment Ontario initiative. These YRDSB services are branded as ‘yorkworks’ and provide a full suite of employment services in the Whitchurch-Stouffville and Georgina areas of York Region. These services reach out both to job seekers and to employers in responsive and innovative ways that help to create a robust workforce.

We have a full time contract position (ending Mar 31, 2016) for a Business Developer at our Stouffville Employment Ontario Service Center. This position combines exceptional administrative skills with traditional job development and business development strategies – using cold-calling, database management, relationship building and other innovative methods to achieve a high degree of efficiency and success in job matching and placements. The successful, detail oriented and highly organized candidate will become a member of a small, but dedicated team of professionals who work in a performance-based setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide immediate and effective customer service on employer and/or jobseeker inquiries
  • Identify employers through targeted cold-calling and other innovative means to market agency’s services to employers, for the purposes of finding job opportunities for our jobseekers and also assisting employers in meeting their hiring needs
  • Maintain and manage an employer database with contact and job posting information on a daily basis
  • Assist consultants and Site Manager in maintaining a welcoming client environment
  • Maintain and update job postings on job boards in center and on websites
  • Work as part of a dynamic job development team to deliver effective hiring events and other employment events
    • Organize employers for job fairs
    • Screen resumes for job matching and placements
    • Provide evaluation of activities by collecting on-going feedback from employers and clients; compile statistics and reports in a timely and organized fashion

Qualifications:

  • Self-starter with excellent customer service skills and passion for service industry
  • Degree or diploma in related field and/or equivalent experience
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment, an asset
  • Excellent organizational, problem solving and administrative skills, a MUST
  • Detail oriented and organized with the ability to work under pressure, multi-task and meet targets
  • Current knowledge of labour market trends in York Region and the GTA an asset
  • Experience using a variety of marketing strategies to successfully connect job seekers to employers
  • Demonstrated ability to cold call targeted leads, develop and maintain contact databases and use time management and scheduling software such as Outlook
  • Demonstrated ability to assist individuals and employers in problem solving to address barriers and develop realistic plans to achieve goals
  • Knowledge of the Employment Ontario, Employment Services Delivery model an asset
  • Excellent computer skills including: MS Word & Excel 2007, database management, Internet, and Outlook
  • Strong customer service skills and communication skills both written and verbal
  • Reliable vehicle is necessary as position requires some travelling throughout York Region
  • Ability to work some evenings and the occasional Saturday if required
