The Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) is dedicated to enhancing the academic and professional experiences of York’s graduate students including offering graduate student financial support, increasing the availability of external funding, and coordinating and disbursing graduate student awards. This position supports the Research Officer and the Information Assistant in effectively and efficiently administering all FGS awards.
Completion of some community college courses or advanced training in a relevant field such as accounting or finance.
Two years of related experience such as accounting and/or auditing. Experience in working with financial spreadsheets and databases required. Experience working in a customer service area dealing with the public, explaining policies and procedures in a manner that is easily understood. Experience in a post-secondary institution working in an administrative unit in support of financial and business operations is an asset.
Intermediate Word, Excel, Access; ability to search for information on the internet related to student academic and financial services. Excellent communication, problem-solving, probing and organizational skills. Attend accurately to detail, working effectively under pressure of high volume; work independently meeting deadlines and handling competing priorities; work accurately with figures to reconcile accounts. Exercise initiative and maintain confidentiality.
