The School Perseverance Sector of the YMCAs of Québec offers a variety of programs to 10- to 24-year-olds in several communities across Québec and Canada. Pathways to Education helps young people graduate from high school and successfully transition into post-secondary education or vocational training. The program addresses systemic barriers to education by providing leadership, expertise, and a community-based program proven to lower dropout rates.

Under the supervision of the Director of the Pathways to Education program, the selected candidate will support youth workers in all aspects of the program’s intervention component. Moreover, the Coordinator will plan and supervise group activities and support volunteer mentors and employees as they help students develop their social skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Intervention

Student parent support workers (SPSW) when following up on and evaluating objectives and youth interventions.

Help the Director support a team of student parent support worker (SPSW).

Lead discussions about cases with the team of SPSWs.

Mentoring

Work with the team to assess the participants’ needs and suggest social and cultural activities that correspond to student objectives.

Plan group mentoring activities.

Supervise and support employees/volunteers.

General

Help implement the Pathways to Education program in Pointe-Saint-Charles and see that the activities and initiatives reflect the program’s priorities, strategic plan and mission.

Participate in the financial management of his or her program component and identify new sources of funding.

Build and maintain partnerships with different community stakeholders (schools, youth organizations, police, Director of Youth Protection, etc.).

Adhere to the YMCA’s Child Protection Policies and Procedures.

Understand and integrate the value of philanthropy in his post and in the Association and participate in activities / fundraising events.

QUALIFICATIONS

Has a university degree in social work, project management or a related field or a college certificate with relevant work experience.

Has at least 3 years of experience as a coordinator.

Has youth work experience.

Has experience managing employees and/or volunteers.

Has experience with partnerships and/or community groups.

Is able to work flexible hours.

Is proficient in both written and verbal French and English.

Have no criminal record in connection with employment.

CONDITIONS

Location: Pathways to education – Pointe-Sainte-Charles YMCA

Status: Full-time

Salary: In accordance with the salary scale in YMCA

Schedule : 35 hours/week, daily schedule to be determined
