All Child Care Teachers report to the Child Care Centre Supervisor directly.
Incumbents must have the ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, afternoons and evenings. Hours of work may fluctuate to meet the needs of the centre.
All YMCA Child Care Teachers are required to provide professional, high quality child care programming in YMCA centres licensed for both preschool and toddler aged children. Child Care Teachers are responsible for the development of Playing to Learn curriculum and direct program delivery within the established standards of the YMCA Child Behaviour Guidelines and the Early Years Act.
Incumbents must have excellent interpersonal skills and an understanding and appreciation for the delivery of high quality child care services.
- Provide direct supervision of children and program delivery
- Assist with children’s meals and snacks including set up and clean up
- Available for various shifts including opening/closing the centre
- Liaise with parents of children
- Develop and implement Playing to Learn curriculum
- Actively participate in Association initiatives involving the Annual Giving Program and other educational and promotional initiatives of the Association
- Early Childhood Education Diploma
- Registered with the College of ECE
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Strong interpersonal communication skills including written and verbal
- Appreciates and supports the YMCA’s Mission, Vision, and Values
- Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Previous YMCA experience is an asset
