Why do we need you?

This Digital & Print Media Sales Consultant position is responsible for increasing sales revenue in both print and on-line media within the Edmonton & Northern Alberta region through the development of new business as well as providing creative advertising solutions to their existing client base. In addition, the position will ensure that customer’s needs are exceeded in terms of customer satisfaction. This position has responsibility for working with an internal Production staff and the Customer to ensure than the advertisingis accurate. This is a 6 month contract with the possibility of extension.

Sales / Customer Service

  • Discusses advertising needs with customer; understands and promotes YP Next Home Media products and services relevant to each customer. Effectively prepares prior to calling on customer; conducts effective needs assessment and designs proposals to address the customer’s specific needs; ensures all documentation & reports are complete, accurate and submitted to other departments within deadlines.
  • Identify high-revenue sales opportunities and develops an effective sales print and on-line strategy and presentation.
  • Builds and maintains excellent relationships with customers. Establishes partnering effectively and ensures customer’s style mirrored through effective Initial Contact.
  • Investigates and resolves customer problems. Communicates effectively and proactively; responds to their needs with a sense of urgency. Works cooperatively and professionally with clients to develop long-term relationships. Represents YP Next Home Media professionally and enthusiastically both to internal and external customers.

Territory/Account Management

  • Completes Weekly Sales planner- CRM to ensure penetration of assigned territory; prospects new clients; develops and maintains existing client revenue base.
  • Initiates post-sales activities to ensure advertising solutions continue to satisfy the customer’s needs.
  • Proactively calls on existing accounts; works closely with clients and responds to their needs in a professional, timely and service oriented manner. Spends most of his/her time out of the office, with clients, and works at penetrating, controlling and retaining these accounts. Meets sales targets and objectives for specific client base.
  • Maintains up to date information on the competition and market place. Tracks new trends and potential changes within the market.

Administration

  • Maintains sufficient customer records to ensure proper territory organization and account administration.
  • Consults with appropriate department to determine timing of print and on-line media insertions and reinsertions.
  • Presents and negotiates rates with clients. Prepares and signs client contracts.
  • Submits customer orders, following procedures and completes necessary documentation or electronic ad files accurately and in a timely manner.

Education, Experience & Technical Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts/Marketing/Business.
  • Achievement of or progression towards the Certified Sales Professional Designation (CSP).
  • Recommended 3-5 years of direct sales experience.
  • Experience in intangible, media and internet product sales proven results and consistency in achieving/exceeding sales targets.
  • Knowledge & experience in working with CRM systems (i.e. SalesForce).
  • Strong sales skills combined with a passion for sales.
  • Ability to conduct effective needs assessment.
  • Strong recommendation skills.
  • Effective at overcoming objections, through effective techniques and understanding customer’s concerns.
  • Strong closure and disclosure techniques.
  • Product & Market knowledge: able to educate customer and identify appropriate program.
  • Ability to produce accurate and complete paperwork or files for digital ad submission.
  • Effective time and territory management skills;
  • Intermediate level computer skills in Microsoft Office and other computer tools (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Valid Driver’s License, use of personal vehicle.
