Xenon is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company discovering and developing a pipeline of differentiated therapeutics for orphan indications that we intend to commercialize on our own, and for larger market indications that we intend to partner with global pharmaceutical industry leaders. We have built a core platform enabling the discovery of validated drug targets by studying rare human diseases with extreme traits, including diseases caused by mutations in ion channels, known as channelopathies. Our integrated platform has a full complement of in-house capabilities for human genetics and small molecule drug discovery, and for preclinical and clinical development.

We are seeking a Full-time Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team. This is a 6 month contract position with the possibility of conversion to permanent. This role requires a team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process all accounts payable invoices and payment requests, which includes coding in accordance with chart of accounts, match invoices to approved purchase orders and requisitions and ensure proper approval in accordance with company policy
  • Process approved invoices for payment and ensure proper filing of invoices after payments are processed
  • Prepare weekly cheque runs and wire transfers
  • Maintain all vendor files
  • Process all employee expense payment requests, reconcile employee corporate credit card purchases, review coding and approvals and ensure compliance with company policy
  • Review vendor statements and seek resolution on any outstanding items
  • Reception relief coverage
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Proficient in data entry
  • Able to handle a high volume of transactions
  • Adhere to internal control policies
  • Working knowledge of GST and PST self-assessment requirements
  • Excellent communications skills (written/verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated organizational ability and follow-through
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Three to four years experience working in a similar role
  • Working in a public company setting is an asset
  • Working knowledge of Great Plains is an asset
  • Ability to stay organized with strong attention to detail
  • Be a strong team player
  • Ability to work well under pressure
