We are seeking a Director, Finance & Administration for a 1 year (maternity leave) term-contract

starting August 1, 2015.

World Duty Free Group (WDFG) operates in 20 countries, with over 500 stores in 100 airports from

Heathrow to Helsinki to Vancouver. WDFG is proud to have been voted Airport Retailer of The Year

in 2013 and 2014. Here in Vancouver, we operate 10 stores at the Vancouver International Airport,

where over 3 million passengers visit our stores annually.

We are seeking an experienced Director, Finance & Administration who will contribute to the

continued success of World Duty Free Group Vancouver, by effectively managing all financial, legal,

tax, and internal control functions for the Vancouver operation. You will actively influence the overall

financial health of the company and provide insights to the leadership team for improved financial

management and profitability. As a member of the Senior Leadership team and reporting directly to

the CEO, you will provide authoritative insights on strategic management, financial and

administrative management, corporate initiatives and issues management. You will develop,

recommend and administer the annual budget for the organization and ensure the organization’s

expenditures are controlled and maintained within approved budget limitations. Additional

accountabilities include leadership and direction to the Information Technology Manager, Office

Supervisor and Financial Controller.

You are an experienced CA-CPA (or equivalent CA,CGA, CMA) who has a successful track record

of delivering positive people leadership, strong financial accountability and managing large, complex

budgets requiring strict monitoring and compliance. Of course, this is just a brief summary of who we

are, what we do and what is involved in the role.

POSITION SUMMARY OR JOB PURPOSE The Director, Finance & Administration contributes to the overall success of the organization by effectively managing all financial tasks for the organization. Specifically the incumbent will actively contribute to the overall financial health of the organization and provide insights to the leadership for improved financial management and profitability.

FINANCE Major Responsibilities:

 Direct and oversee all aspects of the Finance & Accounting functions of the organization

 Leads the development of WDFG Canada current and multi-year operating and capital budget and forecast

 Develops, designs and implements company’s policies and programs that make major changes in overall business performance based on long-term goals

 Serves as a member of the senior management team and contributes to the strategic direction of World Duty Free Group Vancouver

 Provides timely and accurate analysis of financial trends and forecasts, contributes to the continuous operational and sales improvement through financial analysis

 Development and implementation of sound management practices and procedures, provides the function with direction and guidance, processes and tools to continuously increase efficiencies and improve effectiveness of the services provided

 Develops and monitors the implementation of policy and planning frameworks in several key support areas in order to enhance the capacity of WDFG to achieve its strategic plan and operations goals and to comply to legislated requirements

 Manages tax functions including compliance and tax planning opportunities and alternative structures to ensure maximum tax advantage(s)

 Attends stakeholder meetings and participates with the CEO in meetings with the airport authority and head office for the purpose of presenting financial results, answering questions and negotiating funding arrangements

Legal, Insurance and regulatory

 Review legal contracts; Key liaison with external legal advisors and corporate legal counsel; Maintains adequate corporate records

 Ensure that the company complies with legal and regulatory requirements  Maintains appropriate insurance coverage

Internal Control

 Oversee and review proper system of internal controls and operations loss prevention policies

 Rolls out global internal control policies and procedures if applicable to local office

 Conducts operation and loss prevention audits Information Technology & Administration

 Directs and provides leadership to the Information Technology Manager and Office Supervisor

 Establish and implement internal controls IT administrative systems and related policies and procedures to ensure that day-to-day operational activities are efficient and effective, and are in-line with approved programs and budgetary allocations

 Oversee and supervise the administrative function of the organization including reception, property/facility management, non-inventory purchasing, safety of the work environment, and provision of furnishings and equipment necessary for effective operations

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

 Post-secondary education in accounting, business management, financial management including a professional designation: CPA (CA, CGA and CMA) pertinent to the job function or an equivalent combination of education and experience

 Experienced in a fast paced, growing retail environment would be an asset

 Extensive management experience evidenced by past successful performance as a senior manager with extensive experience related to finance and administration

 An effective decision maker with a track record demonstrating innovation and results-oriented leadership, the ability to promote and foster teamwork, and the ability to manage expectations from multiple organizational units

 Skilled in the areas of internal and external reporting including engagement with external auditors, and have a solid understanding of financial presentation requirements and potential issues

 Exceptional operational experience and aptitude for strategic thinking

 Experience in effectively managing budget forecasting, and planning procedures necessary to operate effectively to achieve growth initiatives

 Excellent critical analysis, problem-solving and communication skills

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Hours – 40 hours per week • Monday – Friday, occasional weekend day

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Office Environment. Occasional lifting up to 5-10kg.

QUALIFICATIONS  Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards

 Skilled in the areas of internal and external reporting including engagement with external auditors, and have a solid understanding of financial presentation requirements and potential issues

 Exceptional operational experience and aptitude for strategic thinking

 Experience in effectively managing budget forecasting, and planning procedures necessary to operate effectively to achieve growth initiatives
