The SAFE Work Analyst provides injury-related statistical analysis, reporting and information to multiple internal and external stakeholders. This position is responsible for responding to customer inquiries and assisting the Prevention Consultants with the goal of preventing workplace injuries and safely returning injured workers to health and work.
Job Duties: Designs, creates, maintains and distributes various injury-related reports for use by multiple internal and external stakeholders including employers, SAFE Work Services, WCB Executive, Rehabilitation and Compensation staff, Assessment staff, Policy, Research and Quality Assurance staff, Workplace Safety and Health and Safety Associations; Provides assistance interpreting the reports and addresses inquiries regarding report content, trends and anomalies.
Maintains and regularly updates a database of information including claim counts, injury rates, claim duration, injury demographics, claim costs, days paid, assessment rates and payroll and premiums; Sources information from other WCB databases and converts it into a usable format.
Responds to customer requests and provides statistics and analysis for ad-hoc requests, projects and SAFE Work consulting services and training documents; Effectively utilizes various software tools to analyze data.
Liaises with Policy, Research and Quality Assurance staff to analyze collected data to determine injury increases/decreases and rationale.
Works with Workplace Safety and Health and the SAFE Work team on initiatives for priority firms, other employers, industry initiatives and other requests.
Supports Rehabilitation and Compensation and Assessments staff by responding to requests for specific firm/industry related information.
Assists in the development of reports for the purposes of updating Executive Management on SAFE Work activities.
Participates as a member of committees and projects that require data analysis, such as RWIP projects, health and safety initiatives and Information Technology projects.
Works closely with a project team to implement online Safe Work Report tools on the corporate website; This includes report and formula design, content and testing.
Develops and delivers presentations to internal and external stakeholders on injury statistics.
Attends offsite employer meetings with the SAFE Work Team or independently, to present, explain or clarify firm data and trends.
Attends tradeshows for SAFE Work promotion.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Three (3) year university degree in Business Administration or related discipline, to include courses in statistics, computer applications and research
Five (5) years experience conducting detailed analyses involving complex data sets, including the evaluation, interpretation and formulation of conclusions/trends and/or policy/program development which includes making recommendations based on research and compilation of data
Knowledge of program evaluation methodologies
Advanced proficiency in the use of personal computers and software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) in a Windows environment, including knowledge of statistical software and Internet applications
Strong mathematical/statistical/numerical skills to manipulate data
Strong customer service skills
Ability to obtain, assess and evaluate data to support decisions
Ability to research, analyze and write technical reports
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
Ability to develop and deliver presentations and training
Ability to effectively organize and prioritize workload
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Knowledge of the Workers Compensation Board provisions, policies, procedures and legislation including WCB Rate Setting Model; and WHSD Act and policies/regulations, would be an asset
A satisfactory criminal record check will be required for the successful candidate
