Overview / Responsibilities

Wood in Calgary is looking for a Junior Structural Engineer (EIT)to join our Downstream & Chemicals team .

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare engineering deliverables on a variety of small to large industrial project under supervision of a senior engineer.
  • Review/Prepare project standards and specifications
  • Coordinate and work with project team members
  • Liaison with other disciplines and client when required
  • Peparation and review of technical reports
  • Prepartion of Material Take Off

Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in Structural/Civil Engineering from an accredited university
Registration with APEGA as an EIT
0 – 2 years of experience in contracting/consulting within a buildings Structural team.
Ability to interact with a wide variety of clients from owners, and developers
Experienced with the use of the either the National or Alberta Building Code.
Working knowledge of the requirements of CSA Standard A23.1, and concrete and concrete materials test methods of CSA Standard A23.2 as well as ASTM and ACI committee documents.
Working knowledge of the requirements of CSA S16 Design of Steel Structures.
Knowledge of structural design software such as SAP2000, STAAD and RISA3D.
Ability to investigate construction related issues for new and existing structures

Ability to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment

A self-starter who is innovative and enjoy working in a team environment
