QUALIFICATIONS:

• Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba or the Registered Psychiatric Nurses Association of Manitoba required.
• One year current relevant psychiatric clinical nursing experience required.
• Recent experience in acute psychiatric care required.
• Satisfactory employment record required
• Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Demonstrate ability to provide continuous quality patient care.
• Accept and work within the framework of the Hospital and Nursing Service Department’s philosophy, objectives and policies.
• Practice nursing based on current nursing practices which are substantiated by scientific nursing rationale using the nursing process.
• Demonstrate excellent communication and organization skills, ensuring effective interpersonal and interdepartmental communication.
• Is aware of and participate in his/her own professional development and assists in staff and student development.
• Participate in patient and family teaching.
• Participate in patient discharge planning in cooperation with other team members.
• Adhere to all safety and health regulations and demonstrates safe work practices.
