Under the general supervision of the Clinical Manager or designate, the Clerical Partner/Unit Clerk functions as a member of the health care team, performing clerical, receptionist, and related duties as directed in support of patient/resident centred care. The Clerical Partner/Unit Clerk demonstrates a commitment to the values, vision, goals, and objectives of the Region/facility/unit.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Grade 12, Manitoba Standards.
  • Graduate of an approved Unit Clerk training program.
  • Previous experience providing clerical services in a health care setting would be an asset.
  • Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) and Principles of Routine Practices (Universal Precautions).
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Regional, site and unit policies and procedures.
  • Roles and responsibilities of members of the health care team.
  • Knowledge of relevant Workplace Safety and Health responsibilities.
  • General administrative and secretarial skills and abilities required to perform all tasks and responsibilities relevant to the duties of the position.
  • Ability to type accurately at 25 wpm.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
  • Ability to recognize and pursue self-development opportunities.
  • Ability to respond to a variety of simultaneous demands and deal with interruptions.
  • Ability to operate information technology equipment as required, e.g. fax, photocopier, computer, etc.
  • Ability to relate to others in a tactful, courteous and supportive manner.
  • Ability to function as a team member and seek assistance as necessary.
  • Ability to express ideas and thoughts in English both verbally and in written format.
