Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.

Successful completion of a recognized academic Rehabilitation Assistant Program (not limited to but including the 10-month Winnipeg Technical College Rehab Assistant Program) required.

Basic computer skills required.

Previous direct patient care experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

Must be fluent in both oral and written English communication.

Excellent interpersonal skills with people in a variety of settings.

Preference will be given to candidates competent in an Aboriginal language and/or knowledgeable in Aboriginal customs, beliefs, and practices.

This position is subject to a Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search, and an Adult Abuse Registry Check. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred.

Duties:
Must be in excellent health and be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time without resting. Must be capable of bending, stretching and lifting while attending patients. Must be able to safely transfer large and/or heavy patients who may have limited or no weight bearing capabilities. Must demonstrate adequate motor coordination or dexterity for implementation of therapeutic techniques and manipulation of therapeutic activities as necessary.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Performs direct and indirect patient care activities and non-patient care activities that are delegated and supervised by the Therapist responsible for the care of the patient(s).

Salary: Effective April 1, 2011 – $17.044, $17.555, $18.082, $18.624, $19.183, $19.759 C.U.P.E. Contract

Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more EFT positions greater than 1.0 combined across the WRHA legal entity (Deer Lodge Centre, Grace Hospital, Health Sciences Centre, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA Corporate Programs, WRHA Community Health Services).
