CRNM Registration required.
CPR Training at the Health Care Provider level is required.
CNA Perioperative Nursing Certification preferred.
Post graduate perioperative nursing course preferred.
Current perioperative experience preferred.
Consideration may be given to a nurse without this experience subject to his/her agreement to participate in and successfully complete the WRHA Perioperative Orientation.
Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.

Under the direction of the O.R. Manager of Patient Care, the incumbent is responsible for: promotion and compliance with the HSC mission, objectives, goals, policies and procedures for perioperative nursing; providing a continuity of care throughout the perioperative period, using scientific and behavioral practices with the eventual goal of meeting the individual needs of the patient undergoing surgical intervention. (Expected practice behaviours include assessment, planning, implementation of perioperative nursing interventions and evaluation.
In addition, the incumbent participates in continuing education activities directed towards personal and professional growth and development; participates in research activities that support and enhance perioperative nursing practice and in departmental Quality Assurance and Improvement activities.
