EDUCATION:
Grade 12 education
EXPERIENCE:
Previous training and /or experience in performing general labour tasks and the safe operation of moving equipment and specialty vehicles.
DUTIES:
Performs duties which assist various tradesmen in the performance of their maintenance tasks
Operates groundskeeping equipment such as power lawn mower, tractor, snow blower and front-end loader, up-keeping equipment as needed. (i.e. refuel, check and add oil)
Assists Groundskeeper with snow removal duties
Changes light bulbs and cleans light fixtures
Maintains the shop site to ensure that serviceability, cleanliness and safety aspects of all equipment meet acceptable safety and working standards
Seeks to improve processes within their scope of responsibility
Actively participates in the Department’s continuous quality improvement activities/programs (e.g. preventative maintenance, fire and safety programs)
May be required to perform other duties and functions related to this job description not exceeding above stated skills and capabilities

May be required to work extended hours
May involve exposure to disease, radiation, toxic materials, noise, allergens, etc.
May encounter aggressive and/or agitated patients/residents/staff/visitors
May be required to work under stressful or emergent situations
Must be able to work in confined spaces and high areas (ie. crawl spaces, ladders, tall buildings)
LICENCES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must have a current driver’s license
This position is subject to a Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) and Adult Abuse Registry Check. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred.
