  • Grade XII education or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a supervisory/management course from a recognized community college or university preferred.
  • Demonstrated computer ability.
  • Minimum three years cleaning experience required.
  • Minimum two years supervisory experience in a medium to large organization, preferably in a hospital environment preferre.d
  • Must be self motivated with exemplary customer service skills.
  • Must possess good analytical, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.


  • Supervises staff in regards to maintenance requests, monitoring complaints and providing feedback by way of room audits.
  • Trains staff in areas such as safety, fire, security, Hospital Codes, WHMIS, etc.
  • Provides orientation to staff, provides training guidance, and feedback.
  • Looks after staffing issues such as relief coverage, WCB, Occurrence Reports, absenteeism, tardiness, and communicates as required by hospital policy and procedure.
  • Assigns, assesses, and monitors work duties of staff (ie. quality, quantity, standards, furniture moves, setups, spill clean up, procedures, products, supplies, equipment etc.).
  • Monitors all workroom functions and performs workroom functions as needed (ie. ready-to- use supplies, sign-in/out, pagers, access cards, keys, curtains, sharps containers, lost and found, dry cleaning, washing/drying, log book, phone calls/messages, etc.).
  • Maintains equipment (operational deficiencies, repair instruction, tags equipment, maintenance requisition, feedback, etc.).
  • Monitors building needs (layout, project cleaning, floors, carpets, walls, ceilings, light fixtures, furniture, minor repair requisitions, etc.).
  • Provides followup to staff members in regards to performance issues.
  • Promotes co-operation and professionalism among housekeeping staff, other departments, customers, and provides guidance in regards to resolution of service complaints, reporting, etc.
  • Performs other Housekeeping duties as assigned.
