  • Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
  • Successful completion of a CHIMA-recognized Health Information Management program preferred.
  • Successful challenge of the CHIMA National Certification examination, with a valid CHIMA certificate, current active CHIMA membership preferred.
  • Alpha-numeric recognition aptitude required.
  • Typing/keyboarding skills (minimum 30 wpm) and medical terminology required (pass mark 75%).
  • Operational knowledge of computer terminals required.
  • Good command of English (oral and written) and good interpersonal communication skills required.
  • Previous related office experience required, preferably in a Medical Record environment with (electronic/paper) and with terminal digit filing.
  • Meets deadlines, problem solves and exercises judgment for decision making within the scope of the job description and within the team mandate.
  • Preference will be given to candidates competent in an Aboriginal language and/or knowledgeable in Aboriginal customs, beliefs, and practices.

This position is subject to a Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search, an Adult Abuse Registry Check and a Child Abuse Registry Check. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred.

Duties:

Working as a member of the Records Processing team and with the leadership from the Records Processing Supervisor/Manager, the incumbent is responsible to provide clerical support by providing, maintaining and processing patient records (paper copy/EMR) for centre wide patient care.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Prolonged physical activities include; walking, standing, sitting, bending, stair climbing, lifting, and loading/unloading chart bins weighing approximately 25 lbs.. Work environment consists of high noise level, frequent interruptions and no natural light.

Salary: Effective April 1, 2011- $16.152, $16.636, $17.136, $17.650, $18.179, $18.724 C.U.P.E. Contract
