*GOAL: *As part of the team at Winnipeg Harvest and working in support of and within the agency’s mission, goals,objectives, policies and procedures, the goal of this position is to ensure that there is a consistent, adequate, safe andnutritious, supply of surplus food available to be distributed by Winnipeg Harvest, to people in need of food assistance, by:

  • Coordination of the Warehouse and Transportation system for Winnipeg Harvest,
  • Responsible for the shipping / receiving, and distribution of food to all food distribution agencies, food banks,soup kitchens
  • Maintaining the vehicle fleet to ensure safety and efficiency
  • Coordinating pick-ups from food suppliers

*REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS*: Reports to the Warehouse Manager

*Liaises with: *Agencies Department, Volunteers Services and Training, Development Department

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prioritize and coordinate pick-up and deliveries to all city and provincial food distribution agencies , utilizing the most reliable and cost effective methods
  • Communicate as appropriate problems or other activity that may effect on time delivery, and work with various departments and individuals to resolve problems and issues to ensure product is shipped or received and completion confirmed.
  • Answering high-volume incoming phone calls from customer, staff, and drivers. Provide direct and precise information verbally (including radio) and via email.
  • Prioritize, and complete the paperwork for shipping/receiving including weight recording for incoming food
  • Perform clerical tasks associated with accurate record keeping and tracking,
  • Demonstrate a commitment to Winnipeg Harvest health & safety rules, regulations, and programs
  • Maintain and complete daily driver/ fleet documentation (pre/ post trip, driver logs etc.)
  • Coordinate all fleet requirements to warehouse manager, ensuring all repairs are completed on timely manner.
  • Help maintain cleanliness of Dock Areas and Vehicles
  • All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A strong belief in the dignity of all human beings and a positive and caring attitude
  • Ability to work as a team member and in a variety of situations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – both written and oral
  • Strong organizational, analytical and supervisory skills
  • Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in a fast-paced work environment
  • Professional individual with determination and self-motivation
  • Must be analytical and capable of recognizing logistical challenges and determine best possible outcome.
  • Logistics experience required with a proven track record of achievements
  • Demonstrated ability to source suppliers and negotiate best rates
  • Excellent communication, organizational and analytical skills
  • Experience in warehouse operations and food handling – shipping/receiving, storage, and transportation

Knowledge of:

  • the food industry
  • Workplace Health and Safety and Fire Department standards and regulations
  • vehicle maintenance
  • basic bookkeeping
  • Current Fork lift operators certificate, CPR and First Aid training an asset
  • Commitment to the organization’s vision of accessible, healthy and sustainable food for all

40 hr work week. Ability to work flexible hours
