Job description

Willowridge Construction is currently looking for a Safety Coordinator/Administrator for one of our main sites within the greater Edmonton area. Job purpose

This position is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and maintaining the health, safety programs of Willowridge Construction Ltd. and to promote industry leading safety for our employees, clients, contractors, and the community in which we live and work.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide professional knowledge, and leadership in the planning, development, implementation, administration, and support of company-wide environmental health and safety programs
  • Designs, coordinates, conducts, and maintains documentation of safety orientations and training for employees.
  • Champions an employee inclusive safety culture and is accountable for adherence to company polies and procedures to ensure a respectful and inclusive work environment for all team members.
  • Participates in the selection of safety equipment for use by field personnel; coordinates ordering and purchasing of safety related equipment as necessary
  • Participates in the investigation and analysis of accident/incident, near misses and injuries, and developing recurrence prevention programs and procedures. Prepares documentation and supports others in preparing the required documentation for incident investigations.
  • Monitors all current information on federal and provincial safety regulations and requirements as well as industry best practices and communicates this information to interested parties within our organization as applicable.
  • Responds to and provides support during emergency situations
  • Compiles, maintains, and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies
  • Acts as liaison between all levels of the organization and our stakeholders with regards to all aspects of safety.
  • Attends and participates in various meetings as required.

Qualifications include:

  • Completion of Post-Secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Experience with supervision
  • NCSO/HSA
  • Ability to interact with employees, peers, and clients professionally
  • Excellent self – manager
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Clean drivers abstract

Working conditions

The nature of the position is requires work in a variety of environmental conditions including but not limited to heat and cold, indoors and outdoors.

Physical requirements

This job requires extended period of sitting, standing, and walking. It is incumbent on the Corporate Safety Administrator to set an example for the employees of being fit to work whenever on duty.
