Position Summary

The Junior Technician – Guardian is responsible for contributing to the development, manufacturing and field support of our Guardian Bin Monitoring System. Reporting directly to the Guardian Product Development Manager, this position will be based out of our Winnipeg, Manitoba facility.

Manufacturing Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of manufacturing processes that improve efficiency and quality in mechanical and electro-mechanical products.
  • Be fully involved the manufacturing and assembly of the Guardian product.
  • Employ supply chain management techniques for purchased goods and hardware.
  • Other duties as assigned

Field Support Responsibilities

  • Employ troubleshooting strategies to quickly determine the root cause with limited support from others, as well as providing direct troubleshooting support to the electronic and mechanical facets as per guideline or provided training.
  • Utilize custom software to review and manage electronic equipment deployed in the field.
  • Perform remote troubleshooting of issues related to electronics and electro-mechanical devices used in agriculture.
  • Occasionally travel on-site to farm operations to perform troubleshooting of issues with electronic and electro-mechanical devices.
  • Other duties as assigned


  • EIT in electrical engineering or mechatronics considered an asset
  • Excellent communicator, both verbal and written, who thrives on solving problems while working in a team environment.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills while working cooperatively and effectively in a collaborative design team, including representatives from other AGI facilities, departments, customers, and suppliers.
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting considered an asset
  • Strong theoretical and practical working knowledge of engineering mechanics.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical, problem solving, decision making, organizational and time management skills.
  • Exercises good judgment, initiative, and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 20%) to support field testing, customer support and integration of designs into the production environment.
  • On-farm experience is considered a substantial asset
