Summary :
Develop detailed planning packages for static equipment included in the turnaround scope.
Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the planning function of the all approved static equipment jobs included in the turnaround scope.
  • Make a site visit to verify scope of work and location of the work, access needed, lifting requirement, insulation removal
  • Identify turnaround activities;
  • Estimate resources, durations, establish precedence, as the main input for the scheduling.
  • Identify needs of assisted access (scaffolding, man-lifter), insulation removal as preparative activities for the static equipment related works. Notify Scaffolding Planner.
  • Identify flanged joints to be hot-bolting during the pre-turnaround phase; prepare hot-bolting plan
  • Field tagging for the proper identification of the locations of the different static equipment works, which shall include blinds and valves locations.
  • Work along with Material Planner and Warehouse personnel to do the Bag and Tag of the material requested for each Work Order, as part of the Pre-Turnaround activities.
  • Work closely with the execution to ensure complete familiarization and commitment with the turnaround plan, which will be a key factor for the success of the turnaround.
  • Prepare Work Instructions, Lifting Plans for the static equipment works under turnaround scope.
  • Identify critical lifting operations to require a comprehensive rigging study.
  • Assembly the Work Packages which shall include: work scope, plan, schedule, resources, scaffolding plan, BOM, blinds list, drawings, Work Instructions, JSA, cost estimate.
  • Collect actual progress activity-wise during the execution phase of the turnaround, and update the data in client
  • Prepare post-turnaround report upon completion of the whole turnaround
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Planning Manager


  • Minimum 10 years maintenance and turnaround experience in an oil and gas context with at least 5 year’ experience in a turnaround planning role.
  • Millwright Journeyman or B.Sc. or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant similar Mechanical educational background


  • Knowledge of the Oil and Gas Industry
  • Experience in turnaround planning practices.
  • Planning and performance management.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a diversified and critical environment
  • Data analysis and report writing skills
  • Attention to details
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Proficient in verbal and written English.

Position Details:
One Year Contract
4/3 shift – Monday – Thursday
40 hour work week with potential for more hours leading upto and during Turnaround
Flights provided to site from Edmonton and Calgary Hubs for non residents of Fort McMurray
Non exec. camp accommodations provided for non residents of Fort McMurray
Bussing provided to/from site for residents of Fort McMurray
