Job Summary

The role of the Project Planner is accountable for detailed project planning, scheduling, cost estimating and control functions in general to maximize production while achieving budgeted targets in a safe, cost effective and timely manner. Planning knowledge and experience particularly with Oracle is required. The ideal candidate should hold a Journeyman status as one of the following: Pipefitter, Steamfitter, Boilermaker or relative trade or possess an engineering background in mining, projects, and/or mechanical. This position will be located on our Potash Mill Site 230KMS East of Regina, SK.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Perform field inspections and determine the appropriate job work scopes.
  • Develop the work plans for Capital and MRM projects with the necessary information to allow efficient scheduling, assignment, and execution of these jobs.
  • Create, use, and maintain plant history and other technical files to include information in current job plans to anticipate and avoid job delays.
  • Develop cost and time estimates of the planned work relevant to specific projects.
  • Write applicable project procedures that promote defect-free work quality.
  • Be responsible for up-keep and accuracy of projects history and job records database.
  • Be responsible for up-keep and accuracy of technical information on processes, mill and equipment.
  • Maximize resource productivity by identifying parts, materials, special tools, external services, rentals and documentation.
  • Preparation of job plans ready for scheduling detailing parts, materials, special tools, external services and documentation with planned costs.
  • Identification of safety, EH&S, permit and communication requirements.
  • Preparation of job plans to include the sequencing of associated tasks, taking into account multi-craft alignment.
  • Maintain and continuously improve job plans.
  • Maintain bills of materials (BOM’s).
  • Maintain work center.
  • Development of project schedules through all stages of the projects.
  • Lead meetings with operations, maintenance, and planning team members to draft turnaround work list, if applicable.
  • Facilitate job plan reviews with maintenance, planning and project team members to ensure work packages are complete and can be executed as planned.
  • Communicating progress weekly to the project manager.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a Grade 12 or GED
  • WHMIS
  • Dynamic individual with minimum 5 years’ experience in a construction project planning, project management or project controls.
  • Mechanical Engineer preferred or relevant technical diploma or university degree with 5+ years’ of increasing responsibility in various positions on large resource projects working for larger Organizations in Potash, Oil and Gas or construction.
  • A working knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS); preferably Oracle; and, material management systems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook and Projects.
  • Knowledge of routine maintenance and/or turnaround practices, performances measures, scheduling tools and techniques.

  • Motivated, self-starter who can work well independently or within a team environment
  • An effective communicator with the ability to develop positive working relations across a multitude of business units
  • Exercises good judgment on complex decisions
  • Effective leader, good problem-solving skills, planning, organizing and priority setting skills combined with a strong work ethic
  • Ability to lead moderate to large cross-functional project teams to safely, reliably, cost effectively and efficiently execute project scope
  • Ability to lead various internal and external stakeholders in the delivery of highly complex projects
  • Ability to network, relationship build, and influence change

SHIFT: 4/3 or similar shift.

CONTRACT: End of 2018 with possibility for extension.

HOURLY RATE: TBD – LOA and Travel Allowance may be offered to candidates requiring travel.
