Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an approved program for Health Information Management
  • Professionals
  • Certification with and ongoing active membership in the Canadian College of Health Information Management Association
  • 3 years field experience
  • Excellent problem solving skills

Accountabilities:

  • Gather, analyze, audit, manipulate data, prepare and submit reports to support hospital statistics, Ministry of Health submissions, and various committee reports
  • Gather, prepare and submit all legal, insurance and medical correspondence (release of information). As well as support the creation of the annual summary submission to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner
  • Conduct quality assurance audits as required
  • Gather, analyze, audit, manipulate data, prepare and submit various internal/external reports/audits
  • Coordinate and process new/revised hospital clinical forms
  • Active member of the Clinical Records Committee. Prepares and distributes meeting agenda and takes minutes
  • Gather, analyze, audit, prepare and submit reports for inpatient death registration and recording offsite deaths included with the maintenance of the Electronic Patient Record (EPR)
  • Gather, analyze, audit, prepare and send out emails to ensure all inpatient charts are completed within 30 days of patient’s discharge
  • Analyze, test and deploy digital systems supporting department automation
  • Assists with orientation of new and current staff on privacy and addresses daily privacy questions as required
  • Gather, analyze, audit, manipulate data, prepare and submit various privacy related reports/audits
  • Update/edit Clinical Records & Privacy policies as required
  • Update and maintain various privacy databases
  • Contributing member of hospital re-development project
  • Provides back-up relief for Health Records Clerk as required
  • Performs other duties as required
