About the Position

The Waterloo Regional Police Service is looking for an experienced professional to temporarily fill the key role of Job Analyst for 6 months (with a possibility of extension) in our Human Resources Branch.
POSITION TITLE: Job Analyst (6 Month Temporary)

HOURS OF WORK: 35 hrs/wk, Mon-Fri, Day Shift
SALARY: $55,687.87
START DATE: Immediately
Position Functions

As an experienced HR Professional, you will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day administration of the Job Evaluation program, the maintenance of existing job descriptions, and the development of new job descriptions.
Specific accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate all aspects of the job evaluation program, including: coordinating JE meetings, coordinating the training of new members, maintaining up to date evaluation records and results, and providing advice and guidance to managers in the preparation of job descriptions, new job reviews, and job maintenance reviews.
  • Determine, develop, and maintain job description content through job analysis, interviews, questionnaires, meetings with supervisors, and other sources, all the while ensuring that job descriptions are compliant with WRPS policies and procedures as well as relevant legislation.
  • Coordinate and conduct information sessions pertaining to job evaluation and pay equity.
  • Assist in conducting informal compensation surveys.
  • Assist in the recruitment of Auxiliary and volunteer members, including the coordination and maintenance of records.
  • Maintain relevant databases and prepare reports as requested.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree, certificate, or diploma in Human Resources Management or related discipline.
  • Minimum three (3) years of Human Resources experience involving job evaluation, job analysis, and job description writing.
  • Possess or working towards CHRP designation.
  • Experience in unionized work environments is an asset.
  • Skill in the operation of a personal computer and software programs such as Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Time and Attendance Management Systems, and HRIS.
  • Exceptional communication (both written and verbal), human relations, and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly detail-oriented with proven analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Demonstrated ability to be innovative and creative, show initiative, and to manage priorities.
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.
  • Ability to meet police security requirements and maintain confidentiality.
  • A valid Class “G” Ontario Driver’s Licence with no more than six demerit points required to travel within the Region to attend meetings.
