Viterra is seeking a General Manager for our Ste. Agathe canola processing facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing strategic business plans for our canola processing operation, to achieve a balance between profitability, market share and customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and recommend business opportunities which support the achievement of overall corporate strategies and objectives.
  • Develop procurement strategies including the development and maintenance of strategic producer relationships.
  • Responsible for staff management including hiring, development and performance management.
  • Develop and manage operating and capital budgets.
  • Develop strong, collaborative relationships with key customers, suppliers, other divisions and affiliates to capitalize on synergies and opportunities to optimize profitability and growth.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of canola processing trends and developments.
  • Represent the organization in various industry associations and committees related to canola processing.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrated negotiation skills with the ability to assess risk and exercise sound judgment in making decisions.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with customers, suppliers and other industry contacts.
  • Well developed planning and change management skills.
  • Proven ability to lead people with strengths in mentoring and developing others.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive profitability while delivering quality, safety and customer satisfaction.
  • In-depth knowledge of the national and international food processing industry.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing an oilseed processing operation or equivalent.
  • Post secondary degree in Commerce, Engineering, Food Science or related field.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience that result in the required level of knowledge skill and competence will be considered.
