Vertex Pharmaceuticals (Canada) Inc., is currently recruiting one Research Scientist I in Medicinal Chemistry to join our dynamic chemistry research team based in Laval (Quebec). Our team is dedicated to discovering new therapeutic agents for cystic fibrosis and serious renal diseases. The selected applicants will combine excellent laboratory skills, knowledge of contemporary synthetic methods, and be able to apply abstract and rational concepts in their research. The selected candidate will work directly under the guidance of their chemistry program manager and will work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment with biologists.
Key Responsabilities:
Responsible for the design and synthesis of small molecules meeting desired target properties and profile with a high degree of reliability and independence;
Primarily responsible for executing multi-step, complex organic synthesis in a timely, efficient, and independent manner;
Create and interpret SAR with a clear understanding of the biological data;
Design, execute, and interpret experiments, with a high degree of reliability and independence;
Organize efforts to stay aligned with project priorities;
Clearly and effectively communicate ideas and results (both verbally and in writing) to a broad range of audiences.

Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate (Ph.D.)in Medicinal or Organic Chemistry ;
1+ years of relevant employment experience preferably in drug discovery.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment is an important skill ;
Experience with computer software relevant to laboratory research, data interpretation and presentation;
Good communication skills, both verbal and written;
Bilingualism (English and French) is a definite.
