Vertex is currently accepting applications for two casual, project based Paramedics. The successful candidates must be registered and in good standing with the Alberta College of Paramedics. This position provides mobile medical standby support and is responsible for delivering the highest quality of basic and advanced life support including, medical assessment, and treatment. The successful candidate will adhere to Work Safe Alberta legislation and professional association protocol in line with best practices. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities while possessing exceptional verbal and written communication skills.


  • Successful completion of an Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP) approved Paramedicine education program
  • Must be a registered member of, and in good standing with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP)
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in critical Care; Experience in an industrial/pipeline setting is preferred
  • Competent understanding of Part 11: First Aid of the Alberta OH&S Code
  • Valid certification in ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), ITLS (International Trauma Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), and Standard First Aid
  • Valid WHMIS, H2S Alive, TDG, eGSO (electronic General Safety Orientation), PCST (Pipeline Construction safety training ) and CSTS or PST Safety Training required
  • Valid class 5 Driver’s License required
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Moderate to advance computer skills including proficiency within Microsoft Office Suites.


  • Provide advanced first aid/medical aid to employees to promote and support a healthy and safe work environment
  • Provide medical assessments and treatment plans, and implement follow up with evaluation of care
  • Maintain accurate and confidential medical records in accordance with established medical records protocol
  • Manage sensitive and confidential information while displaying sound and objective judgment
  • Ensure the medical station is in excellent functioning condition by completing various safety, inventory, and maintenance tasks
  • Maintain equipment and ensure supplies are in current and working order
  • Possess excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with a proven ability to work effectively across multiple functional areas and various professional disciplines
  • Possess strong basic computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Additional responsibilities may include but are not limited to health surveillance, training, and participation in health and safety programs


  • This position is project based and the current project based vacancy is located near Grand Prairie, Alberta


Compensation is commensurate with education and experience
