The University of Winnipeg is seeking an experienced professional with broad experience in the area of Compensation and Job Evaluation.

The successful candidate will support the job classification and performance evaluation functions of the Human Resources department and is the employee compensation expert.

Expectations for this role include coordinating the classification process for new and existing unionized and excluded jobs, performing compensation research and maintaining and improving the University’s performance evaluation system. The ability to drive change requires the position to demonstrate influence without authority. The position will have a thorough understanding of the University’s culture, processes, and Human Resources goals and will be able to communicate how goals are supported by compensation, job evaluation and performance management systems and processes.

As a member of a highly integrated Human Resources team, this position requires frequent collaboration, innovation and flexibility to meet business needs.

The successful candidate will possess relevant post-secondary education related to business or psychology or a related discipline. Other key position requirements include:

CCP designation preferred;

Experience with the Hay Job Evaluation System preferred;

3 – 5 years of directly related compensation and job evaluation experience;

3 – 5 years of experience managing compensation under a collective agreement;

3 – 5 years of experience with performance evaluation/management systems and processes;

Knowledge of compensation research strategy and tools

Experience creating salary forecasts bases on collective bargaining scenarios

Experience in designing performance evaluation systems for unionized and non-unionized employees;

Ability to lead committees comprised of union and non-unionized audiences

Ability to write clear, concise documentation that accurately conveys decisions and rationale

Demonstrated experience to prepare and make presentations to diverse audiences

Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills

Ability to exercise and apply good judgment and decision making skills;

Ability to work independently, and as a part of a team.
