About Us

Sports & Recreation Services is one of the most diverse units on campus combining varsity Athletics, Recreation activities and Facilities operations into one unit working to contribute to the universities goals and objectives of offering the best student experience. Sport and Recreation Services offers a wide variety of services and experiences for Western students and faculty, alumni, the London community, and other stakeholder groups.

Responsibilities

Personal Trainer will provide enthusiastic, courteous service to clients using the Western Campus Recreation facility. The incumbent will educate and enforce policies regarding the safe and proper use of equipment and facility. They will develop, document and implement exercise programs on an individual basis according to the needs and goals of the client. The Personal Trainer will instruct clients on basic exercise physiology and inform them as to proper lifting and exercise techniques. Providing all the necessary information, techniques, and proper procedures for exercising and helping clients stay active and healthy.

Qualifications
Eligibility Requirement:
  • Must be committed to work up to 21 hours per week
  • Current First Aid & CPR certification or must be obtained prior to employment start date

Education:

  • Secondary School Diploma
  • Related nationally recognized training Certification (i.e. NCSF, ICS, Can Fit Pro etc.)

Skills, Abilities & Expertise:

  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain a positive, outgoing attitude with genuine customer service orientation
  • Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, clients and the public
  • Ability to create a positive impression while interacting with others and responding to inquiries, by telephone, in person or electronically
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and resolve issues
  • Passion to work hard with a propensity to pursue goals with energy and persistence
  • Ability to teach and effectively lead a range of fitness activities
  • Reliable with the consistent ability to work assigned shifts is paramount
  • Familiarity with Campus Recreation’s programs, services, and facilities preferred
