Under the supervision and direction of the National Director, the role of the Program Officer is to ensure that the Student Coordinators are following PBSC’s established guidelines, policies, procedures and timelines, all of which are set out in our comprehensive Program Management Guide that covers all facets of the program. The PBSC Program Officer works with the Student Coordinators to ensure that they understand and are following the Program Management Guide, so the chapters operate smoothly and to keep the National Director apprised of any concerns as they arise. The Program Officer also provides coordination assistance and support with all other aspects of PBSC’s programs in accordance with program needs and as assigned by the National Director.
Bachelor’s Degree or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum three (3) years’ experience related to the statement of purpose; an understanding of access to justice programs designed to provide legal assistance to low-income individuals; an understanding of law schools and the legal profession; experiences with volunteer coordination; demonstrated experience coordinating programs (preferably in an educational setting); demonstrated commitment to community outreach and access to justice initiatives; ability to work with and motivate law students, faculty and community partners including members of the legal and educational communities, and other social and business contacts.
Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications; proven skill in organizing and maintaining web pages; familiarity with social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter.
Excellent administrative, organizational, and writing skills, ability to work independently and in a team. Excellent relationship building skills; superb oral and written communication skills; excellent problem solving skills and program coordination skills; diplomacy and tact; strong analytical ability; ability to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines; highly organized, detail oriented and a self- starter. Discretion, tact, pleasant manner and an ability to positively represent PBSC and the Faculty of Law at all times; must have a willingness to be flexible with work hours as the program and deadlines demand, including working some overtime; including occasional travel in Canada.

Pay Scale Group and Hiring Rate
USW10 — $56,168 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $71,829. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
