Under the general direction of the Director, Human Resources University Operations and working closely with the HR Consultants and other departmental staff, the incumbent provides support for a range of human resources services within University Operations. The HR Administrator will be required to provide administrative human resources support in the areas of Recruitment, Labour Relations and Benefits administration. Responsibilities include providing administrative support to the Director of Human Resources University Operations & HR Consultants, including scheduling, maintaining internal tracking spreadsheets, databases and file systems. This position is responsible for conducting benefits orientations for new hires and employees changing employee groups, responding to benefit inquiries and performing general benefits administration. The HR Administrator is an integral part of the University Operations HR team and is expected to maintain a high standard of professionalism, striving to ensure timely, quality results to meet the needs of the unit, clients, employees and candidates while maintaining an up- to-date knowledge of relevant University policies, collective agreements and government legislation.



University degree, completion of or working towards a Human Resources Management Certificate, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum of three years’ related human resources administration experience in a unionized environment is required. Experience providing human resources services to a large, diverse workforce is required.

Proficiency in standard computer applications (MS Office, e-mail, scheduling software, etc.); experience using HRIS or similar system.

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; strong interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and initiative; solid consultation, analytical, and organizational skills; strong commitment to and demonstrated ability to provide a high level of service and foster an inclusive environment; ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
