Under the direction of the Manager, Food and Beverage Operations Manager the Catering Office Assistant is the first point of contact for people entering the catering office. Responsibilities include assisting and directing clients while providing a high level of customer services. The incumbent will also be required to perform event and office administration. Duties include but are not limited to: answering and referring catering inquiries from prospective clients, working closely with the Catering Event Coordinator to prepare and complete event files, prepares and coordinates weekly distribution of Event Orders to departments, meet and greet clients on site, send contracts, banquet event orders and deposit information to clients.
Two year Community College diploma in hospitality or event management, or equivalent combination of education
and experience in the Hospitality industry.
Minimum two (2) years in a customer service role in a hospitality related field. Experience working with Delphi or other catering software. Familiarity with standard office procedures.
Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work and relate to students, staff and a wide variety of professional groups. Computer skills including intermediate level skills in Word and Excel.
Demonstrated ability to exercise tact, diplomacy, empathy, sound judgment and discretion. Ability to communicate effectively and pleasantly over the phone.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Ability to multitask and prioritize work and to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines. Highly detail orientated and meticulous attention to detail are essential. Must be able to work in an environment with regular interruptions. Occasional evening and weekend overtime is required.

Pay Scale Group and Hiring Rate
USW07 — $46,914 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $59,996. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
