Under the supervision of the Business Coordinator, the incumbent will provide financial assistance in: planning, budgeting and forecasting, financial statement analysis, internal control, and decision analysis, and assume full responsibility, with the assistance of the Administrative Assistant, for all aspects of HRIS within the Business Services office which serves New College academic, administration, and intrapreneurial areas; and the residence ancillaries. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: ensuring proper accounting procedures and policies are followed by all who are involved in handling finances and processing payroll in HRIS.

The incumbent will provide assistance in the areas of financial management, preparing various financial reports including the annual Service Ancillary Review Group (SARG) report for the residence operations. The incumbent will also assist in preparing reports for various special projects. The incumbent will be expected to work collaboratively with other departments within the College.

: Minimum Qualifications

Education: Completed Bachelor’s degree in a recognized accounting program and/or an acceptable combination of education and experience.

Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of financial, accounting, and budgeting experience, preferably acquired through a post-secondary environment. A working knowledge of the University’s financial, academic and labour relations practices and procedures, including collective agreements. Experience working with operating and ancillary type budgets. Experience providing financial assistance in: planning; budgeting and forecasting; financial statement analysis; internal control; and decision analysis. Experience working with AMS, including FIS and HRIS, StarRez are required.

Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office with advanced knowledge of Excel and intermediate knowledge of Word and Power Point. Working knowledge of Star Rez and other related systems. Strong analytical ability and aptitude for details and follow through. Effective oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated problem solving skills. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Knowledge of: SAP (FIS and HRIS), accounting and payroll principles, and Union collective agreements are required.
