Under the direction of the Academic Recovery Program Coordinator, the Writing Coordinator (Academic Recovery Program) will provide expertise in the writing services offered by the Student Success Centre, Students Affairs. The Writing Coordinator will provide students in the Arts Transition Program with writing support, and deliver a writing lab to these students. This includes developing and delivering discipline-specific writing content and workshops, providing writing tutoring, and developing academic resources within the program as priorities and resources allow.
University degree at the graduate level, supplemented by a minimum of 3 years of experience teaching University level courses. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. The coordinator will be expected to devote approximately nine hours per week to the program in the Winter Semester. The incumbent must demonstrate a student-centred approach to teaching and sound interpersonal skills when dealing with students, academic staff members, staff and the public in order to provide appropriate writing services; have an interest or specialization in academic writing and composition; and possess exceptional oral and written communication skills.
