Extended Education is seeking one or more experienced, academically credentialed, subject matter experts to instruct Networking 101.
This workshop develops students’ understanding of what networking entails in a Canadian context and its importance as a professional tool for career success. Students will study and apply the interpersonal skills and strategies commonly used by effective communicators/socializers in everyday networking situations. In doing so, students will be exposed to language that is reflective of authentic conversation in terms of cultural politeness and appropriateness within the Canadian workplace context.
The responsibilities of the position include in-class instruction to adult learners, student assessment including grading and providing supplementary curriculum resources. Access to a personal computer is a requirement of this position.
Applicants must have an undergraduate degree or a suitable combination of post-secondary education, professional certification and work experience in the applicable field. In addition, applicants should have experience in adult learning and teaching, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be highly organized. Applicants must be committed to life-long learning and embrace a learner-centered approach to teaching. The ability to engage students in their learning environment and a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion are an integral part of the position. Assets also include experience instructing at a post-secondary level, using teaching and learning technology (e.g. UMLearn), and demonstrated leadership skills.
