Responsibilities :

Specific responsibilities include: – Developing and assessing the strategy for the SCCE. – Playing a leadership role in developing relationships to optimize the impact of the Centre’s work within the Asper School, at the University of Manitoba, and externally. – Managing SCCE programming, including but not limited to investment/business competitions and youth programs. – Communicating and disseminating information on behalf of the SCCE; assessing relevant media for disseminating the Centre’s message, from web, social media and press releases to print. – Working closely with MBA and undergraduate student activities, including business plan competitions, clubs, and field-based study programs. – Establishing SCCE as the ‘go-to place’ for assisting students in starting businesses; providing one-on-one consultations and mentoring. – Budgeting and resource management, including the management of administrative staff. – Supporting the Advisory Board by providing regular updates, inviting members to relevant programs and events, and managing the annual meeting by planning the agenda and hosting meetings. – Creating a close working relationship with Asper faculty and staff and the Entrepreneurship Lab, and collaborating on programming and/or teaching where appropriate. – Serving as the subject matter expert and key contact for all inbound requests for visits and talks to visiting groups and tours, and representing the SCCE and Asper School at conferences of entrepreneurship centre leaders. The STU CLARK CENTRE FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP aims to encourage entrepreneurial thinking among University of Manitoba students by having them experience the development of concepts and businesses in ‘real world’ situations. The SCCE provides networking, mentorship, and resources to make this possible, and supports a variety of programs aimed at youth, and students. The SCCE is the gateway to Winnipeg’s growing entrepreneurship scene and helps students gain access to mentorship opportunities with business leaders and innovators, digital fabrication and prototyping support, exclusive tours of leading-edge start-ups, and student competitions with cash prizes. Currently, the SCCE supports a variety of programs aimed at youth, undergraduate and graduate students, and adults. The I.H. ASPER SCHOOL OF BUSINESS is the principal business school in the province of Manitoba and is accredited by AACSB. The School offers undergraduate, MBA, MFin, MSc and PhD degrees. The Asper School is a research-intensive institution comprising approximately 55 full-time faculty members. The School is located in a modern facility overlooking the Red River. Qualifications :

MINIMUM FORMAL EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED: – MBA or equivalent with an emphasis in entrepreneurship is required. EXPERIENCE: – Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing projects and people in a startup/incubator, small business or other high-pressure environment is required. – Experience dealing with inquiries from the press and public is preferred. – Experience in teaching and dealing with youth of all ages is an asset. – Experience as an operational and project manager, with the ability to perform all levels of work from strategy to directly managing events is required. – Passion for, and experience in, the field of entrepreneurship, or working in a startup, venture capital firm or organization that promotes entrepreneurship is required. – Experience launching, running or financing entrepreneurial ventures. – Appreciation for academic entrepreneurial research and ideally experience with experiential course development/delivery. – Experience working effectively with a board or advisory board members. – An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: – Desire and abilityto serve as a mentor or advisor/guide to students, ideally with past experience in such a role is required. – Self-motivation, creativity, and excellent organizational skills required. – Comfort building collaborative relationships across the Asper School and the University of Manitoba, and with members of local and international business and venture capital communities is required. – Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills; proven ability to manage and deliver on a communications strategy, including the most current forms of social media.
