The Cardiac Electrophysiology Unit, Division of Cardiology, University Health Network requires a Research Analyst to analyze electrical signals from cardiac patients.

Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the Research Analyst II should have expertise in deploying known and developing new computational algorithms for cardiac signal processing. The analyst will be required to program their code in Matlab or an equivalent language with sufficient documentation. The analyst will also be responsible for collecting and organizing data files in accordance with hospital and departmental guidelines and SOPs, and professional standards of practice. All tasks must be completed with accuracy and in a timely manner to meet deadlines for scientific conference presentations and granting. Quality assurance procedures are utilized to ensure high quality data is obtained. The analyst will also be involved in coding, entering, and managing data in Microsoft Excel, and performing basic statistical analysis in SPSS or an equivalent, and may also participate in the preparation of presentations and project reports. The analyst must be able to work independently and effectively in an inter-professional and collaborative team environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At minimum, Bachelors degree; preferred Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or recognized equivalent experience
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in applying signal processing techniques in a health sciences-related field (cardiology preferred) and/or other related experience.
  • Demonstration of relevant research, computer programming knowledge, and familiarity with signal processing approaches required
  • Excellent organization, prioritization skills, computer skills, ability to learn quickly and work independently
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure with attention to detail
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional, courteous and collaborative manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance to UHN standards
  • Ability to perform multiple concurrent tasks
  • Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies will be an asset
  • Client service oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand
  • Satisfactory attendance at hours concurrent with the rest of the research team
  • Proficiency with MS office, Excel and Power Point software required
  • Knowledge of Matlab, python, C++ or equivalent programming language required
  • Knowledge of SPSS, SAS, R or equivalent statistical analysis tools required
  • Familiarity with machine learning algorithms considered an asset
