We supply and service our customers through a wide variety of retail formats, including natural product super chains, independent product retailers, conventional supermarkets and food service clients.

We are hiring for an Maternity Leave Contract role as an Logistic Coordinator in our Richmond BC location. The working shift is Monday to Friday 8:00 AM- 4:30 PM.

POSITION PURPOSE:

Responsible for the coordination of all purchase orders applying to the assigned lanes of this position. This includes all coordination and communication from pickup to the final destination delivery point. Responsibilities include independent decision making to determine how best to balance freight costs with expected transit times and operational schedules.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

  • Monitors all purchase orders in specified lanes including third party, expected pick-up and eta dates.
  • Maintains communication with various departments for issues that affect ETA’s, schedule changes.
  • Tracks carrier compliance, on-time performance, loads per carrier, cost analysis and all pertinent carrier and local fleet data.
  • Reviews actual freight costs in specified lanes; ensures booked freight costs are accurate and met on all specified lanes.
  • Reviews and processes carrier claim issues as well as vendor OS&D issues.
  • Coordinates all cross dock/inter-company shuttles between UNFI warehouses, monitors inbound cross-docks to ensure timely ETA’s.
  • Assists in the maintenance of all carrier files to include insurance, operating/broker authorities are updated.
  • Summarizes & publishes reports as required concerning, claims, credits, OS&D, POD, driver logs.
  • High knowledge of greater Vancouver area.
  • Acts as backup to inbound logistics department.
  • Manages daily roadnet routing.
  • Support the routing department as required.
  • Perform other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities and Duties

EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior transportation experience.
  • System Implementation preferred.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Should be familiar with applicable Warehouse Management Systems functions, RoadNet, On-Board Computer System and Load Manager.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Excellent analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills needed.
  • Ability to handle multiple duties and projects in a fast paced environment.
  • Microsoft Office Applications with focus on Excel and Word programs.
  • Ability to work in an office environment, phone skills required.
  • Knowledge of routes, cubing, and load capacities and maximization.
