Some related work experience in area of Volunteer Management/Development.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment, often with many interruptions
• Excellent organization and coordination skills
• The ability to work cooperatively with other staff and volunteers
• High degree of discretion dealing with confidential information
• Strong computer skills Microsoft office, word, excel and power point
• Knowledge of nonprofit environment and the community is beneficial
• Ability to travel for meetings and program support (km compensation)

Job Requirements: The volunteer coordinator’s essential duties & responsibilities:

• plan, design and coordinate outreach activities for the purpose of recruiting volunteers and community support
• research and implement updated methods to promote volunteerism
• implement volunteer program goals, objectives, policies and procedures
• screen and interview volunteers
• develop, maintain and conduct volunteer orientation and training
• maintain all volunteer related records
• organize, coordinate and administration of the various volunteer activities at USC
• assist the organizational needs and then meeting those needs through the recruitment, screening, scheduling, and evaluation and recognition of volunteers
• raising staff awareness of the role and function of volunteers
• maintain accurate statistics and report to the Executive Director
• schedule/coordinate and support volunteers
• provide support to new programs and services provided by USC
• promote fundraising events to the community via PSAs

Eligible Students must be currently enrolled in a secondary, or post-secondary institutionor within six months of graduation and have reached the age of 15 and not yet reached the age of 25 upon commencement of employment. Proof of student enrolment must be provided to the employer. Students must be residents of Ontario during the period of employment. Students must be eligible to work in Canada and have a Social Insurance Number(SIN). Note: Students should be living in Ontario at the time they start work. The intention of the program is to provide career related experience to eligible students that are also eligible to work in Ontario.
