Note: The position location is flexible and can be located around the Red Deer/Stettler area.


Reporting to the Area Manager, the Manager in Training position is responsible for developing the skills and knowledge required to manage a store successfully and be able to assume a location with short notice. This applies to all aspects of store management: ensure financial targets are met; foster a culture of customer service excellence; provide coaching and direction to all employees; follow proper processes including Health and Safety policies and operational standards.


  • Assist in managing the store efficiently and safely, including conducting store opening/closing procedures, supervising employee interactions, monitoring financial status, building maintenance, and ensuring all store processes are compliant with UFA policies and procedures.
  • Act as a Store Manager in his/her absence which includes: making decisions in relation to the customer service requirements, and dealing with employee relations, recruitment and performance management.
  • Ensure store is compliant with UFA Customer Service Standards and responsible for resolving escalated customer issues effectively.
  • Assist the Store Manager with the scheduling of employees.
  • Provide input with the visual merchandising of the store.


  • Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in a retail environment; 1 – 2 years in a management position.
  • College diploma or degree. Agricultural background an asset.
  • Customer service and results oriented with strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications and SAP an asset.
  • Must be willing and able to relocate to any store location with short notice.
