British Columbia Rapid Transit Company Ltd. (BCRTC) maintains and operates two of Metro Vancouver’s three SkyTrain lines on behalf of TransLink, the regional transportation authority. Launched in 1986, SkyTrain is the first and one of the longest, fully-automated, driverless, rapid transit systems in the world. It boasts an average on-time service performance rating of 95 per cent and moves on average 250,000 passengers per weekday.
– Responsible for administering the computer network on a daily basis including the planning, installation, testing, maintenance and troubleshooting of network hardware, software, internet gateways and firewall connections.
– Ensuring the security of servers, network switches and firewalls.
– Overseeing the performance and use of the computer network including monitoring and analyzing the network’s performance.
– Participating in special projects as assigned such as, but not limited to, researching and testing new technologies, reporting results and providing recommendations.
– Supporting and maintaining workstations and printers.
– Responding to urgent calls outside business hours from users.
Diploma in computer science supplemented by MSCE or switching certifications
2.5 years’ experience administering a Windows Server environment network using current technologies, installing and upgrading hardware and software and working with databases.
The following are qualifications that would be an asset:
VMware 5.5 or 6 certification
A current firewall certification from Fortinet, Palo alto or Cisco
In-depth knowledge of MS Exchange/Outlook Infrastructure
In-depth knowledge on how to manage and support a SharePoint environment – MCSE SharePoint would be an asset
In-depth knowledge of SQL 2012/2014 as a backend for application and network management tools – MCSE Business Intelligence would be an asset
In-depth knowledge on how to manage Microsoft web servers in a DMZ environment
In-depth knowledge of Network management tools such as Splunk, ADAudit+, HP IMC and Network Access Control tools (ex. Portnox)
In-depth knowledge of Microsoft System Center tools, especially configuration Manager
Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.
40 hours per week.
