General Information
STUDENT CO-OP/INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY: 1 position, 4 month term, starting May 2015.
TransCanada’s Central Region Operations is seeking a Co-Op Student to support the Regional Asset Reliability (RAR) team. The Regional Asset Reliability group is focused on providing asset integrity support, performing risk assessments, root cause analysis, execution of system improvement programs, and creating asset management value for TransCanada’s oil and gas pipeline systems.
This student opportunity on our Regional Asset Reliability Team has a broad range of duties that support the performance, reliability, and improvement initiatives of the Canada, Mexico Gas Operations department. The successful candidate will become part of a multi-skilled technical team responsible for the management of operational improvements and risks in support of the Canadian Oil and Canada Mexico Gas Operations (CMGO).
The candidate reports to the Central Region Asset Reliability Manager within the Central Region.
Responsibilities
Provide technical support to the field operations, engineering and regional management to ensure the safety and reliability of oil and gas assets;
Provide technical guidance, instruction and assistance related to the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and modifications of new equipment / assets in oil and gas operations;
Monitor and analyze the performance of the equipment and assets, propose recommendations related to the effectiveness, functionality and/or performance of equipment;
Liaison with Engineering, Fleet Management, Asset Reliability, and Project teams within TransCanada; Interact with multiple team members internally and externally;
Participate in the execution of Root Cause Failure Analysis Investigations;
Contribute/maintain Facility Management Plans;
Other tasks as required.
Qualifications and Education
Qualifications:
Must be enrolled in a co-op/internship program at a recognized post-secondary institution;
Attention to detail and the ability to capture and report information accurately;
Business maturity and awareness with topics and matters that are confidential and competition-sensitive;
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others;
Well-developed organizational and multi-tasking skills, the ability to be flexible and the ability to prioritize tasks;
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and circumstances;
Strong verbal and written communication skills and the capability to manage information and data;
Ability to learn new applications effectively and efficiently;
Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Visio, and Word)
Education/Experience:
Must be enrolled in an Engineering Technologist co-op/internship program at a recognized post-secondary institution;
Completion of 1st or 2nd year in a post-secondary institution.
- This position requires candidates to:
Have and maintain a valid driver’s licence;
Provide a driver’s abstract for review;
Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing.
