Avocette is currently searching for an Oracle Database Administrator for our client. This is a 12 month contract position with a potential for extension working out of the Vancouver area.

Scope of Work
Diagnose and resolve issues/problems related to Oracle applications, databases and associated tools;
Deal with clients in a courteous, respectful and professional manner;
Communicate both verbally and in writing;
Work closely with other DBAs in a team environment; and communicate with team members in an effective way;
Work independently and be accountable for tasks;
Prioritize and manage work tasks and achieve results within agreed timeframes; and
Conduct research, risk analysis and recommend appropriate strategies/ solutions.
Required Skills and Experience
Oracle databases, (version 9i, 10g, 11g and 12c);
Various Oracle Technology Stack including Oracle Internet Directory, Single Sign-On, and Oracle gridcontrol;
Unix/Linux environments, preferably HP-UX and Red Hat Linux
Database performance monitoring and tuning;
Oracle fusion technology, including Weblogic, SOA;
PostgresSql database;
Oracle SQL, and PL/SQL;
Oracle application and database administration best practices including installation, configuration, patching, security, backup and recovery;
Oracle Application Servers 9i and above;
Information management and data management principles practises and processes; and
Software development.
Desirable Skills and Experience
MS SQL Server, including SQL Server Cluster;
Patching Oracle applications and databases including the regularly released Critical Patch Update from Oracle;
Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC);
Active DataGuard, standby and high availability;
Oracle E-Business Suite;
Windows OS, including Windows cluster; and
Glassfish.
