thyssenkrupp Elevator (Canada) Limited has an immediate opening in our Edmonton office for the position of Human Resources Specialist. The position is suitable for a person who is located in any of the major city centers of British Columbia and Alberta.

We are seeking a self-motivated individual who desires to join a dynamic team, working for the largest elevator company in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities include workforce planning, talent acquisition, benefits & pension administration, compensation/incentive development and administration, talent development and management, and employee relations for union and nonunion employees
  • Support all recruiting efforts including sourcing, screening and offer process
  • Support performance management process and development of employees
  • Execute HR practices and procedures that support business strategy
  • Act as change advocate to influence the design and delivery of HR programs and initiatives aligned with Local and Global guidelines
  • Provide proactive guidance and counsel to managers on employee relations issues, including development feedback
  • Collaborate with HR and Safety team to execute on projects
  • Execution of day to day HR operational activities such as policy administration, employee data maintenance and reporting

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree with Business or HR focus, CHRP designation or similar
  • 8-10 years of progressive experience in a lean organization.
  • Knowledge of Workers Compensation programs, including return to work practices
  • Strong HR Generalist background with core competencies in the areas of workforce planning, employee relations, talent development, organizational change, labor relations, employee development, and performance management. Specialist knowledge in areas of benefits and compensation a plus
  • Must have strong business acumen with the ability to translate business needs to HR practices
  • Demonstrated ability to influence diverse employee populations
  • Experienced working in a Union environment, preferably service and/or construction.
  • Proven contributor as part of a collaborative team and recognizes others for their contributions.
  • Approachable and an excellent listener. Skilled at translating complex matters to simple terms.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain professional behavior in challenging situations.
  • Sound judgment – an ability to weigh information and decide on the most appropriate course of action
  • Experience with working in a matrix environment in a global organization
  • Ability to travel domestically
