Performs a variety of tool room functions such as issuing tools, manuals and equipment to students, maintaining relevant inventory, preparing orders and purchase requisitions and performing minor repairs and preventative maintenance on tools and equipment.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides services to students by issuing a wide range of tools, materials, test equipment, textbooks and service manuals.
Maintains and controls parts, materials, reference manuals, resource materials and equipment inventories; monitors equipment/tools usage and flags delinquent users.
Sources prices and technical data for quality comparisons.
Prepares Purchase Requisitions, I.D.I.’s and maintains related records.
Identifies and returns damaged goods to suppliers; completes appropriate documentation.
Performs repairs and maintenance to tools and equipment, and arranges for external equipment repairs.
Prepares and distributes picture identification/tool tag cards.
Maintains files and records, and completes related reports.
Keeps tool room area in clean and tidy condition.
Maintains laundry inventory and daily supplies for shop.
Operates forklist.
Receives supplies.
Ensures that recycable items are returned for recycling.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Grade 12, plus specialized courses under 6 months or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE
Three years’ related experience
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE OR ABILITIES RELATED TO THE JOB
Ability to deal effectively with others
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Ability to operate related equipment
Valid forklift ticket
Ability to operate a personal computer, including basic word processing, accessing internet information and utilizing e-mail
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works in tool room environment; some counter work with exposure to minor disagreeable conditions

The salary for the above position is determined by the Collective Agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 4879, as it presently exists.
Pay Band
CUPE Grade 06 $23.68
Salary rate
Please Note: This position may be subject to a 90% salary for the first 560 hours of employment.
