Job purpose: The Youth Safety Advisor (YSA) coordinates the SHSA youth initiative, including the development and delivery of all programs and services. The YSA is the primary deliverer of youth safety education and presentations to youth in schools across the province. They are responsible for building and maintaining relationships with strategic partners to advance Youth Education in Health and Safety. The YSA also provides back-up in communications and general administrative support (purchasing, facilities, IT, ).

Job Duties include:
1.Champion the SHSA vision, mission statement, mandate, values, strategic plan, operational plan, board directives, CEO directives, team norms, HR manual and safety manual, and work with all other managers and staff in order to help the SHSA fulfill all of its objectives and goals;

2.YSA primary duties, including but not limited to:

  • Safety presentations to schools
  • Lead Youth Safety Education Day project plan and development
  • Provide reports and analysis as required by the Director of Operations in order to manage assigned programs and projects in compliance with the operational plan and approved individual work plan;
  • Provide support and deliver as required research, analysis, correspondence, articles, reports, webinars,
  • Communications and general support duties, including but not limited to:
  • Social media and the SHSA website
  • Email blasts, design and delivery
  • Purchasing
  • Basic computer set up and trouble shooting

3.Other duties as assigned.
