REPORTS TO: Transportation Manager

Summary:

Provide transportation network support and analytics for Canadian operations.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Determine and assess transportation costs and their impact on North West Company (NWC) business units

• Develops and maintains financial models to ensure costs are within expected levels.
• Compare and differentiate transportation alternatives within the current network and for theoretical network solutions.
• Analyzes and benchmarks service providers against agreed-upon service standards.
• On hand reporting: Ensure that supply chain partners provide NWC business units the required accurate, detailed, and timely reporting.
• On-Time Performance: Monitor and develop reporting and recommendations to continually improve service.
• Communicates with supply chain partners to resolve any issues and improve performance when required.
• Travel may be required for a closer level of engagement with supply chain partners.
• Support the implementation and maintenance of the Transportation Management System.
• Provide planning, scheduling, and scanning support as required throughout the network.
• Travel may be required to assist supply chain partners.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Post-secondary education specializing in supply chain, logistics or transportation.

• Previous education in or experience using transportation and financial modeling tools.
• Ability to develop, implement and monitor Key Performance Metrics.
• Previous experience working with the Oracle Transportation Management System would be considered an asset.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel and Word.
• Proven organizational, planning and prioritizing skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, tasks and assignments.
• Effective interpersonal and leadership skills are essential.
• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of internal and external customers.
• Proven ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Must be detail conscious while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and a demonstrated ability to maintain confidential information.
• Previous supervisory and negotiation experience is an asset.
• An understanding of TNWC transportation network and the variety of transportation modes used would be an asset.
