Reports to: Executive Chef

In this role, you provide food service and catering services to Winnipeg Logistics and Service Center (WLSC) employees, and occasionally to NWC employees.

Your Role:

  • Create daily lunch specials, soups, and main menu preparation using guidelines provided by the Executive Chef. Cook and prepare menu items as customer demand warrants;
  • Maintain a clean, healthy, and hazard free work environment in accordance to standards set by the Executive Chef and local health authorities;
  • Provide a positive experience for our clients at all times. Handle cash exchanges through the cash register, close out, and balance the cash register daily as work schedule allows; and
  • Available to work 4-6 hrs a day, Monday through Friday, between 5:30 AM and 4:30 PM, as scheduled by the Executive Chef.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Must have a valid food handlers certificate for the province of Manitoba;
  • Must possess a High School diploma and a minimum of one year of cooking experience, or enrolled in a recognized culinary program;
  • Red Seal Certification preferred but not required;
  • Demonstrated experience in the creation of daily specials and soups;
  • Must possess a demonstrated passion for food with a focus on healthy cooking;
  • Completion of an accredited food safety program is an asset;
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to provide exceptional customer service to all levels of the organization;
  • Ability to multi-task between short order cooking and interacting with customers;
  • Must possess proven organizational, planning, and prioritizing skills; and
  • Flexibility to work at our Downtown or St. James locations as needed.
